Maintenance - Staying Young Looking

Happiness - Inside - Outside

Dr. Eve Bruce, M.D. - Plastic Surgeon

In her practice, she saw patients who were - ready for change on emotional and spiritual levels - were able to use the physical change made by the surgeon's knife to positively change their entire lives. Those who were not ready (even though they had surgery) - soon saw the deterioration of their face - to again reflecting the - unhappiness - they felt inside.
- Dr. Eve Bruce, M.D. is also the author of "Shaman: M.D."

Erin's Blog - Feelings After Surgery

May 26, 2010 "Today is a New Day!" (Excerpts)

In January (2010), I was at a point in my life where I was tired of being tired, tired of being uncomfortable and living an unhealthy life. I wanted to change from the inside out. So, Dr. Phil's staff sent me all of Dr. Phil's Weight Loss Challenge books.

Strategy: Identify the filters through which you view the world. Acknowledge your history without being controlled by it. Filters are made up of fixed beliefs, negative ideas that have become entrenched in your thinking. They are dangerous because if you treat them as fact, you will not seek, receive or process new information, which undermines your plans for change. If you "shake up" your belief system by challenging these views and testing their validity, the freshness of your perspective can be startling.

I really had to change what I was thinking about. Taking my thoughts captive was my first and most important step to being a happier, healthier, contributing individual. My "self-talk" was negative. I spent way too much time tearing down everything good and decent in my life. When my mind begins wandering and going to negative places, I grab those thoughts and change them into positives. I am not always successful. Change is not instantaneous, and as Dr. Phil explains: "Life is a process."

I have spent way too much time being jealous of others, coveting other's stuff, wanting more, more, more. Never being satisfied. I had to STOP! Whether I am working out, making dinner, considering a snack, talking to my husband, children or grandchildren, I want to keep my thoughts moving in a forward, optimistic direction. I CAN do one more push up, I CAN eat a salad and feel better, I HAVE a wonderful husband, daughter, grandchild, I AM blessed with incredible abundance... You get my meaning.

I am grateful and thankful Dr. Phil helped me by creating a "No Fail Environment". He put me in contact with Wes Greer, from Fitness Together, www.ftJacksonville.com, his and Robin's personal trainer: Robert Reames, www.robertreames.com, and Bistro MD, www.bistromd.com. After successfully losing over 25 pounds and 25 inches, Dr. Phil hooked me up with Dr. Andrew Ordon and Dr. Ritu Chopra, www.drordon.com. I am very thankful Dr. Ordon and Dr Chopra wanted to give me the opportunity to look the way I feel.

I do not think the surgery changed my face into someone else. I think my face LOOKS the way I FEEL...Did it change my life and make my life all better? No! My life is still a mess. However, I am better able to cope because my health and weight are better. Looking fresher is a nice bonus.

Dr. Phil has empowered me to take back my power.  I understand many viewers are unhappy with my personal success: taking care of myself through healthy excerise and eating, and keeping my thoughts and words positive. However, I am NOT going back to a place of darkness. I will continue to move forward and improve.

Some of you saw me in yourself, and you didn't like what you saw. You began to make changes and shared your struggles and victories. If one person becomes a better wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister or friend because of my public struggles, then this trip was worth it.

Thanks to many of you for your support and encouragement.

See you soon,
Erin

Surgeon - Dr. Andrew Ordon www.drordon.com
"We call this the Ultimate Facial Rejuvenation. We started with her eyes. We did what we call a short scar facelift, and then, finally, we did two special things: added volume to her face. We did something called the Matrix — took her own fat from her tummy and put it into her cheekbones, her mid-face, around her chin and then finally, the frosting on the cake was a full-face laser resurfacing for the fine lines, the sun spots, that kind of thing."
