Menopause Facts - Good News!
A Woman's Body is Lovingly Designed for Perpetual Youth

A Woman's Body is Programmed at Menopause to Change Estrogen Production from the Ovaries to the Adrenal Glands
A Constant Supply of Estrogen produced by the Adrenal Glands, would give a Woman's Body what it Needs to Restore and Maintain Itself Young *like Age 30* in her 40s, 50s, 60s, 70s+...

"Anatomy and Physiology" Volume 2 - Endocrine System
This College Textbook was published by Barnes and Noble
in 1959:
"The Adrenal Glands are probably the Source of Postmenstrual Estrogens."

Dr. Linda Rector Page, Ph.D., Author, "Healthy Healing":
"Menopause is Intended by Nature to be a Gradual Reduction of Estrogen by the Ovaries with Few Side Effects.
In the Well-Nourished, Active Woman, the Adrenals and other Glands pick up the Job of Estrogen Secretion. Most Menopausal Problems today stem from Exhausted Adrenals."

Adrenal Exhaustion Symptoms = Menopause Symptoms
Symptoms: Lack of Energy and Alertness; a Sense of being Driven
and Anxious then followed by Great Fatigue, Moodiness, Irritability,
Dry Skin, Brittle Nails.

Adrenal Exhaustion Causes
Causes: STRESS, Vitamin B and C Deficiencies, Poor Diet.
The Adrenal Glands manage Stress by Producing Adrenaline.
At Menopause, they also have the Job of Producing Estrogen.

WARNING - MisDiagnosis - Bipolar Disorder (Manic-Depression)
Adrenal Exhaustion vs Mental Illness
Some Women have been Seriously MisDiagnosed as becoming Suddenly - Mentally Ill at the Onset of Menopause, or at a Young Age after a Complete Hysterectomy (Ovaries Removed).

The Sudden Symptoms: A Lack of Energy and Mental Alertness, also a Sense of being Driven and Anxious followed by Great Fatigue are Seriously MisDiagnosed as Symptoms of a Sudden Mental Breakdown, or Mental Illness (Manic-Depression/Bipolar Disorder) instead of the Correct Diagnosis of Adrenal Exhaustion.

Carla Curry's Story
Age 38 - Hysterectomy then MisDiagnosis of Manic-Depression
Carla's Story is in the Summer 2003 issue of the "Back to the Garden" Magazine published by Hallelujah Acres www.hacres.com.
Note: In 1958, at Age 19 and just 3 Weeks before her Wedding, Carla was seriously Injured in a Car Accident. Afterward her Spine was rebuilt with Grafted Bone and Stainless Steel Wire. She was Married and through the Years had 3 Children, but was always Suffering with Back Pain. (Her Adrenal Glands/Adrenaline helped her Cope with the Pain)

"In 1977 (Age 38), I faced an immediate and Complete Hysterectomy (Removal of Ovaries) due to several Tumors in my Ovaries. I was 38 Years Old!
My Body's Reaction to this was Violent, (Sudden Loss of Estrogen + Back Pain, Stress = Adrenal Exhaustion) and I ended up being Diagnosed as Manic-Depressive and put on Lithium in combination with other Tranquilizers and Anti-Depressants for Nine Years. The Results were Devastating. I Lost my Hair, Several Jobs, and most of my Sanity.

In 1989 (Age 50) I had to apply for Disability as the Pain and Immobility made work Impossible. I now had Advanced Osteoporosis! Chest Pain was present most of the time and at times it was so Severe it felt as though I was having a Heart Attack.

In 1991 (Age 52), due to the Death of my only Son, I became the Adopted Mother of my Two little Grandsons Ages Two and Three. I was 52 Years Old and had an Aching Body that was anything but ready to take on Child Rearing. I was also caring for my Husband who was in his Second Battle with Cancer.

In 1994 (Age 55)...I had been on Anti-Depressants for over 30 Years. We were just completeing the 5th Year of my Husband's Prostate Cancer fight. In the Fall of that Year, my Husband Died.

In 1998 (Age 59) after 4 Years of Widowhood, I married a Missionary I met...at this time I was trying my best to Ignore the Pain and Immobility.

In 1999 (Age 60) we came in contact with the Hallelujah Acres (Vegan/Vegetarian Diet) Plan though a small church in Lindale, Texas. We immediately Started the Diet. Healing began, but Stopped abruptly when we went to the Mission Field and had No Facilities to Prepare our own Food.
My Pain was Constant Now, and I would sometimes have to Climb Stairways practically on my Knees. I could Not Sleep, and was taking as many as 16-18 Excedrin a Day. I became very Angry with God for Not Healing me. The Lord answered me very quietly saying:
"I have already Shown You the Way to Healing". I knew immediately in my spirit that He was referring to The Hallelujah Diet I had been Introduced to Several Months earlier. I Started The Hallelujah Diet that very Day.

When I Started the Diet, the Pain in my Body was almost Intolerable and taking so many Painkillers was tearing up my Stomach and Kidneys, but I had to continue taking them in order to be able to do the Simplest of things.
Arthritis was Rampant in every Bone of my body. The expreme Pain in my Chest from Osteoporosis made Breathing Difficult. My Headaches were of Migrain Level.

On February 19th 2000 (Age 61) we purchased our Champion Juicer and went Totally Vegan (No Animal Products).
After only 19 Days, I had Energy to Spare and was Sleeping like a Baby and 60% of my Bone and Chest Pain was Gone.
By May (3 Months) I was 85% Free from All Pain and was able to Run Upstairs with only Small Knee Pain, and not even out of Breath. I also Discovered that Masses of Cysts in Both Breasts were Gone!
After Less than 4 Months on the Hallelujah plan, I noticed that the Large Cyst on the right side of my Back, which had been the Size of a Medium Hen's Egg was almost Flat.

No More Bipolar Disorder (Manic-Depression)
It is now February 2003 (Age 64), and I recently Celebrated my 3 Year Anniversay on The Hallelujah Diet.
Off ALL Medications - Mind is Clear with Quick Thinking
I now use only the Hormone Cream (Progesterone) recommended by Hallelujah Acres and am Off ALL Synthetic Hormones
I hold down a Full-Time Job at the local Veggie Market where I'm on my Feet all day...I am active in a Hallelujah Acres Support Group and minister one-on-one to anyone needing Help getting Started on the Hallelujah Diet

Jane Pauley's Story - NBC News Reporter
Age 50 - Diagnosed as Manic Depressive (Bipolar Disorder)
2000 - After Several Years as a very Successful News Reporter, Jane was Diagnosed as Suddenly becoming Mentally Ill at Age 50, the Start of Menopause. Her Life as a Top TV News Reporter for Years had been Very Stressful, having to get up at 3:00 AM and Work Long Hours.
No Attention was given to the Fact that She was Starting Menopause with a Very Stressful Life that would Quickly Exhaust her Adrenal Glands, when they Suddenly also had to Produce Estrogen during the Menopause Change from the Ovaries to the Adrenal Glands.
Instead she was Prescribed Lithium to Manage the Symptoms.

Charles Raison, MD, assistant Professor of Psychiatry and Behavioral Science at Atlanta's Emory University made the following Statements at the "WebMD" website http://www.webmd.com/content/article/93/102128.htm
"It is Unusual to be Diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder so late in life...Fifty is definitely old, but the average time from a first episode of bipolar disorder to a correct diagnosis averages eight to 10 years. So most people are not diagnosed, or are diagnosed with unipolar depression. This is more likely for women, who are more likely to have their first episode of bipolar disorder as depression."

Mental Challenges at Menopause
    "Women to Women" website:
http://www.womentowomen.com/fatigueandstress/fuzzythinking.asp
"...it’s easy to veer into catastrophic thinking when it comes to your own cognitive symptoms — but let me reassure you that Developing a Spontaneous Degenerative Mental Condition at Mid-Life is usually the Exception, not the norm. And in the case of ADHD, there’s technically no such thing as adult onset ADHD (although it’s possible that your symptoms were overlooked during childhood). Of course, if you have a family or personal history of a clinical disorder, or recently have experienced significant trauma, it makes sense to call your healthcare practitioner and discuss your concerns. If your friends and loved ones are worried for you and mentioning their suspicions, it can’t hurt to listen and get more information. There are many tests available that can put everyone’s minds at ease.

What is far more likely is that you fall on the minor side of the scale. And while your Symptoms may be causing you a great deal of anxiety, it is more beneficial to think of them as Signals asking you to pay more attention to your Whole Health Picture. Rather than drown those calls out with Drugs or Shame, take them as a Sign to Sit Up and Take Notice. At our practice, we assess fuzzy thinking in the context of many other biochemical and emotional issues — a great deal goes into maintaining an agile mind! — beginning with the simplest possible explanation first.

Stress and Overscheduling — the Brain Foggers

Women are fantastic multitaskers. We are hardwired to spin many plates in the air at once — and make dinner while we’re at it. And while this is a most admirable trait and quite possibly a good reason our species continues to thrive, it can come at a cost — particularly in today’s fast-paced, information-dense and stress-saturated culture.

Distraction and overscheduling are also key players. If you are constantly thinking of ten things at once, rushing hither, tither and yon and barely remembering to breathe, your Brain may Choose to take a Holiday whether you want it to or not. Spacing Out and Shutting Down are very real Coping Mechanisms for Chronic Stress.

Chronic Unremitting Fatigue and Mental Lethargy can also be the result of Overburdening your Adrenal Glands...When a Woman’s Adrenal Glands are Overtaxed with no prolonged periods of quiescence, there are Huge Implications for your Brain Function.

Reducing Overt Stress, both Emotional and Environmental, and learning positive Coping Mechanisms are terrific Therapy for the Brain, and your Lifestyle and Daily Schedule may be the first place to start when thinking about what may be causing your mental fog."
