Natural Face Lift - Success Story - Sylvie - Age 45
from Tonya Zavasta's - July 2010 Newsletter www.BeautifulOnRaw.com
October 2009. Though Sylvie had recently gone 100% raw and had started the Rawsome Flex program, she still noticed loose skin and wrinkles, low energy and an aggressive case of psoriasis. She was discouraged. Although she knew she was doing everything right, she wasn't yet experiencing the results she wanted:
Apart from my skin troubles" (Sylvie writes), "I was wondering: How long can a detox crisis last? Before going 100% raw, I was about 80% for 2 ½ years, but I drank coffee daily (with cream), and sometimes I ate noodles, sushi, tofu, rice and other snack foods. But at that time I [was fasting] once a week. Now I've been 100% raw since April 2009 but, even though my energy is generally good, I'm far from the power levels promised by raw food! Is there something more I can do help the process, or must I simply be patient?
Also, even though I use enemas, colon hydrotherapy, quantum eating, 100% raw foods, fresh vegetables and fruits, juices and daily meditation, since the beginning of June, I've been suffering from aggressive psoriasis on a large part of my arms, spots on my chest and legs, and it just doesn't want to go away! My nails are very soft and brittle and my hair is drab, even though I've been munching seaweed every day since the beginning of summer. Please tell me--am I simply impatient?
Tonya - This, folks, is where persistence comes into play. If you have internal issues and lots of stored toxicity, your body will put its energy into resolving those vital issues first, before it has the energy and capabilities to work on external issues. Your body won't expend its energy on peripheral organs, such as your skin, until it has done what needs to be accomplished with your internal organs.
When you start cleansing, external matters take a backseat to what the body considers most important. If you spent a lot of time in the sun when you were younger, it can take time before the skin is able to exhibit even a small amount of recovery from the damage that has been done. At this point, you must persist with internal cleansing and good skin care. Even when you don't see a marked improvement immediately, be assured...it will come!
February 2010. After focusing on internal cleansing for a bit longer, Sylvie reported that her psoriasis was about 80% better. But she was still disappointed that she was putting so much effort in for so little in the way of results. She said: So many women at my age (45) have even better results with their skin just following a conventional diet. Sylvie related she was still tired and had developed a cold. Exercise was tough to fit in, and she realized her work environment was unhealthy, with little fresh air.
Do you have any idea why I'm not getting the results you're getting, since I am following all your recommendations? Do you think it can be just a matter of time?
Tonya - Ah, time! During the first few years of my journey, I did not have exactly the same results I'm enjoying now. What I have now has come from consistency, from patience, from learning as I progressed. Many times I felt life had dealt unfairly with me because I had to work so hard for results, in health and beauty, that some others were born with and never had to work to obtain. If it's this way for you, too, don't waste your time lamenting the fact. Focus on moving forward, on making progress. Strive for the very best that you can be every day. Just try to do a little better than you did yesterday.
The results will come. They can't not come. This is the law of nature. If we all had X-ray vision and could see the improvements happening on the inside long before they manifest on the outside, we would be astounded at - the body's innate abilities - especially in light of the abuse we have heaped upon ourselves, sometimes for decades, before we begin to make changes.
For people over 40 who are just beginning to make improvements in their diet and lifestyle, it will undoubtedly take even longer to see visible results. Go ahead--imagine. Imagine the toxins built up over years of hamburgers, fries, coffee, soda pop, mama's pot roast, weekend beer and pizza, smoking and more. Think back through your time of less than optimal habits and the amount of toxins that need to be released. Most problems can and will get resolved over the course of your journey...if you stay true to what you know works.
Consider, too: Some changes are so subtle that you don't really even notice them yourself. It is only when someone who hasn't seen you for some time exclaims, "What have you been doing? You look fabulous!"
March 2010. March marked nearly a whole year of raw foods and persistent efforts in her beauty regimen. Sylvie was getting desperate.
I drink vegetable juice every morning and a green smoothie each day. I use the Rolling Bed of Pins. I exercise my face and do my facial dry brushing. But my facial skin sags and I am getting wrinkles because of that. Under my chin, my skin looks like a chicken's. Is there something more I can do to get rid of wrinkles and tone my face? I am also struggling with brown spots and dry skin. By the way, is it possible to get rid of cellulite completely with raw foods and exercise?
Tonya - There is definitely a period of time in the raw food journey where people seem to experience dry skin, although the length of time is different for everyone. If you have spent considerable time in the sun, as I mentioned before, it can be difficult to get the skin back to a healthy, hydrated state. Cell turnover and - the creation of new skin cells - is going to take time.
You may as well - give those new cells every possible advantage. Drink two juices a day instead of one for extra hydration. Gradually move away from salt and dehydrated foods. These will go a long way in helping your skin to create those supple healthy cells that give you the glow raw food eaters are famous for.
Cellulite can be stubborn, but I have found hot yoga to be more stubborn--it was very effective at helping me to eliminate cellulite. Though it took months, it did happen. Speaking of stubbornness, Sylvie has a streak of her own. This attribute has helped Sylvie immensely! She decided to dig down deep and not to take no for an answer:
I must admit I don't see a lot of people in the raw food community getting the kind of results you have, Sylvie wrote to me. I was wondering whether you're not an exception. If so, then, fine, we will be two exceptions, together! - I'll let you know when things begin to improve. Even if it takes three years!
Tonya - Please understand: There is nothing at all that's "special" about me. But I do have one quality in abundance: determination. I do not give up when the going gets hard. Happily, for Sylvie, it didn't take three years. Fast forward just a couple of months and we find our dedicated health seeker experiencing a big breakthrough...
June 2010. Dear Tonya...Me again... but with good news! My looks have really started to improve the last few weeks...The skin on my face doesn't sag anymore. It is getting toned and firmer. The skin all over my body is glowing! I am so happy! Almost all the psoriasis is gone except for a few little spots here and there--nothing to worry about.
But that's not all. My energy is higher than ever. I went for some colon hydrotherapy and, finally, I bought a Colema board to use at home. It is just as efficient as the professional one and has helped me a lot! I could see the difference in a few weeks.
Also, I have quit my job, which was far too stressful for me. I was getting more and more depressed, partly because I wanted to live a healthy life but didn't have time because of my job. Since I had a good salary and benefits, this has been a real leap of faith for me. It has been like jumping into an empty space. But I feel deeply that I did the right thing. Now, I focus on my studies in naturopathy, take care of the house (I love it), and I help my husband to succeed in his new business and take care of his needs.
I feel so happy in this place and so creative. In a couple of years, Lord willing, I will be able to open my own practice as a naturopath. I know this is only the beginning. I feel I am on MY path, and I am confident that God will help us to succeed. Thank you very much for everything!
Tonya - There's one secret to success in the raw food lifestyle that supersedes all others: You must chart your course and let nothing steer you off the path. You must commit to the journey. Be patient and persistent and you will come out on top.
Patience and perseverance have a magical effect before which difficulties disappear and obstacles vanish.
